Quebeckers slow down with Slow Cow. And it seems Red Bull is seeing red.
Lino Fleury, a Quebec entrepreneur, had an idea; an anti-energy drink.
Called Slow Cow, the drink is made of mostly natural ingredients that are meant to calm without making the consumer drowsy, such as camomile, passion flower and valerian.
According to this article, the drink was launched last December and has become a success.
Whether or not it’s chipping away at the energy drink market
in Canada, Red Bull is paying attention. It sent the company (Montreal-based
AromAtik) a formal notice claiming the packaging of Slow Cow copies that of Red
Bull. Slow Cow’s design shows two cows relaxing in a reference to the two bulls
fighting. It’ll be interesting to see where trademark lawyers net out on this
one…
Quebeckers and stress.
According to PMB 2008 data, Quebeckers don’t claim to be more or less stressed than Canadian in the ROC (20.3% of French Quebeckers agree with the statement “there is a lot of stress in my life”, 21.4% agree in the ROC).
However, and this might be more promising for Mr. Fleury’s Slow Cow, Quebeckers are significantly more likely to drink decaffeinated coffee.
